Pumpkin Bloom

Well I hope you're all having a great Summer.  I wanted to share one of my favorite blooms with ya. Pumpkin blooms of course! I planted 43 plants and 10 got eaten by ground hogs. But so far the rest seem ok! Ground hogs do not mind egg shells, coffee grounds, hot sauce or dish soap all of which I have tried to keep them from nibbling my precious pumpkins.  I better at least get a few pumpkins out of my patch or I'm going to have to find a good recipe for ground hogs! Lol

  2. LOL! You are too cute! Have you tried Ginger powder mixed with cayenne pepper? I think it would help ;o) Gorgeous picture! I hope your next post isn't ground hog soup! LOL! Hugs ;o)

  3. "A good recipe for ground hogs" Haha! You could try shredding some Irish Spring soap with a cheese grater around the pumpkins. That has so far effectively deterred the chipmunks, rabbits, and deer in my garden. I don't know much about groundhogs, but they probably wouldn't like the smell either!

I'm growing two pumpkins now because the pumpkins I put outside after Halloween last year dropped some seeds and grew themselves. I wanted to get a photo of one of the flowers, but learned they close up pretty quickly! By the time I came out with my camera later in the day, the blooms were shut.

Good luck with you batch! You must have a lot of space to have started 43. Just the two I have going are massive.
